Linux distributions

I have always been a linux addict. Though I have only tried SUSe , RedHat , Fedora , Knoppix and Mandrake (will be trying ubuntu and edubuntu soon ) ... the other day I was just wondering how many distributions are there anyways ?

I personally think that downloading any live CD version like knoppix or ubuntu should be great for starters .
